History of the Club
Barrhead Youth Football Club - HISTORY & AIMS
Barrhead Youth Football Club (formally Barrhead Boys Club) was established in 1972 and has 13 age groups, consisting of 27 teams from under 7’s through to under 21’s plus our newly formed Amateur team, all supported by competing in various different leagues throughout the West of Scotland regio, Namely -

Our club is well respected, successful and has been in existence for nearly 40 years (1972). It is the object of the club to promote the benefit of the inhabitants of the local area without distinction of sex or of political, religious or other opinions by promoting general community projects of a social nature with the object of improving the conditions of life of the said inhabitants.
Currently we have approximately 400 children (boys & girls) and youth members of the club as well as having in excess of 80 adult coaches / committee members, all of whom give up their time free of charge ..
The club is now a charity (Scottish Charity Number SC04096) www.oscr.org.uk/public.stm and is a non profit making organisation where moneys are raised mostly a(And appreciatively) through parent’s donations, plus fund raising events and sponsorship, all money raised is ploughed straight back into the running of team for the benefit of the kids.
Last year our 3rd year of the tournament, was very successful with 192 teams taking part, mainly over the Saturday and Sunday, with excellent weather making the tournament enjoyable for all. .
The team are currently very successful in sportsmanship and levels of skill in the games that they play in, where the kids and parents enjoy the events laid on, and we do have some very talented young players signed up to the team

The club owns and operates it's own 11-a-side new 3G Astro Park (Installed in 2013 and is located in the Cowan Park, Sports Hub), this 11-a-side astro Parl is Flood Lit and has built into it 3-off fully marked out 7-a-side parks.

The club is affiliated with The Scottish Youth Football Associationhttp://www.scottishyouthfa.co.uk/ who are part of The Scottish Football Association www.scottishfa.co.uk/. In recent years the club have been recognised for our development of children into football and subsequently we have been awarded the Quality Mark Award by the S.F.A. http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/scottish_football.cfm?page=169
We have also embarked upon a programme called ‘ Positive Coaching Scotland ‘ whereby we are focussing on how we can both become better coaches, better parents and subsequently better role models for our children and community through our actions and behaviour when we are with the kids. We have been one of the first clubs in Scotland to be involved with this and already it’s having a positive effect upon our club.
